Paul Torrisi, the star of the BBC show "The Apprentice", talks about his role in Goliath Productions latest feature, Violent Tom.

Since leaving the Apprentice I went straight into television. The commissioning editors at UKTV were keen to give me my own show, Property Prophets, a show about finding hotspots all over the country. At the same time I started writing for Concept for Living and other business magazines. Since then I have made several appearances on BBC1 Breakfast news as well as Sky News discussing all things pertaining to business and property. I filmed Confessions of an Estate Agent for ITV1 in Feb 2007, and in May started writing for The Daily Mail. My first piece came out May 4th and I have been asked to write again. The next piece is out June 22nd. I am a regular on the overseas property channel and have recently been asked to co-present Hot Property for BBC1 this October, where I will be luring people out of their comfort zones into areas they may not have thought of before. This show has a marked difference...it is live!

Although I enjoy presenting and writing I have always wanted to put my acting ability to the test. Half way through 2006 I started acting lessons and took and passed my Lamda grade 6 with distinction. So, rather than start small (with say a short film) I thought I would jump in at the deep end and film a feature length movie. I was given that opportunity by Martin Thomas (Director, Producer and Writer) and Brenda Parker (Producer / Exec Producer) of Goliath Productions Limited. I have to say it was a privilege to work with people who not only care about what they are doing but also know how to do it. For me it was not acting. I don't consider that I am able to act, but rather I behave in the part as Paul Torrisi would behave in that situation. Thus, if the director is happy with me on day one, he will be happy with me all the way through the film. The film is gritty, but balanced and the director took care to let the characters develop. An actor will always bring himself to the film set so there will always be a bit of him in the part that he is playing, and because the actors were of such a high standard, in this case this is no bad thing.

The production staff were very smart in making sure that there was plenty to eat, you can starve a man of money and fame but not food.

The whole experience was tremendous and this particular subject matter is unique and deserves the respect from the film fraternity that it's bravery demands. It was fun to film and I was immediately comfortable in my part and also with the little clique of people that I was working with and I hope that it leads to more work with the director and his extremely helpful staff, it's all very well being good looking but you also need a bit of luck. We shall see what other doors open in 2007.

Take care
Paul Torrisi
